ICT as Communicative Tool
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an
indispensable part of our live. It serves as a powerful communicative tool,
bridging distances and enabling seamless interaction across the globe. Nowadays,
it is hard to have your job done without the use of ICT and even more hard to expect to live a
life independent of ICT.
ICT as
Communicative Tool in Learning.
Using ICT (Information and
Communication Technology) as communicative tools, especially in learning opens
up endless possibilities for collaboration, interaction, and knowledge sharing. Some of the examples on how ICT assists in learning are:
1. Social media and Blogs: Platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, or blogging sites
can serve as creative spaces for students to express their ideas, share
knowledge, and connect with peers and solve their doubts.
The image below shows conversation between me and my friend whereby I was clearing doubts of my friends on telegram. Telegram has features where we can video call, audio call, send voice messages, text, pictures, files, videos, gifs and so on. Even the picture quality will be good with no distortion. Therefore, I find it very convenient to use telegram while communicating.
2. Language
Learning Apps: Tools like Duolingo provide
opportunities for students to practice speaking, listening, and writing
skills through interactive modules.
I use Duolingo to learn Korean language and I find it very effective because it gives me instant feedback and encourages me to learn each day by rewarding me with streaks or coins. I can learn the language I want to speak anywhere, anytime I want to and that too free of cost.
The video below shows my Duolingo.
3. Email
and Messaging: Though basic, email and instant messaging services
remain essential for quick and efficient communication between students,
educators, and even parents.
As a student teacher, I use email to send my work to my tutors and get feedback from them. It is very convenient because I just need to send email, and tutors can check my work whenever they are free and give comprehensive feedback.
The image below is an example of using email by me to send my work to my tutors for correction.
Therefore, I consider ICT to be very effective educational tools that helps students to be connected with everyone, anywhere and anytime. Through my experience, I can tell that if used wisely, the benefits of ICT outweigh its drawbacks.
In the future, I plan to use ICT as communicative tool and enhance students learning. I will use tool like telegram, WhatsApp and email to be in contact with my students and their parents. Share notes, ppts and learning video so that they can learn on their own pace and reread/rewatch the part they find difficult. In time of time constraint and when I am not able to attend the class, I will conduct Zoom meetings so that there will be continuous learning without any disturbances with the flow.
Lastly, but not the least, ICT serve as a communicative tool bridging distances and enabling seamless interaction across the globe. If not the globe, But surely a CLASSROOM, a TEACHER and a PARENT!
Thank You:)
