Information and Communication Technology (ICT) gives various
platforms through which we can learn and make our teaching more interesting and
meaningful. To start off, ICT as communicative tools helps in communication between
students and teachers overcoming the barrier of space and time. Tools like
social media and blog, language learning app, email and messaging, allow
learners to exchange ideas, solve doubts, receive feedback, thereby enhancing
the learning experience.
Further, ICT as informative tools refers to the use of ICT
to gather, access and disseminate information. Or it refers to the application
that provides various information or content to the learners. This tool of ICT
helps in bringing greater benefits to educators and learners. By using the
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), telegram, Facebook, We Chat and many more,
learners can gain knowledge far beyond the four walls of the class and support
independent and self-directed learning. We can incorporate those tools in our
lessons seamlessly and make learning effective.
Moreover, ICT as constructive tools enables people to
generate new ideas of teaching and learning through technology. For instance, concept
map, desktop publishing, word, spread sheet, power point, google classroom and
social networking sites, they all allow learners to construct knowledge. Among
these, I use ppt to make my presentation visually appealing and write easy to
remember notes. Even, I have learned to create and use Google classroom where I
can assign work, grade my students work, upload the notes, which greatly helps
in the educational journey. Therefore, I can’t wait to use this tool when I am
truly in my field.
Additionally, ICT acts as a situating tool where I have
explained about it in the form of video. ICT as a situating tool help to
situate learners in a realistic environment, so that they can experience the
context of happenings. Some examples could be virtual realistic (VR), augmented
reality (AR), simulation such as Phet, graphic calculator, google map, GeoGebra
and many more.
Lastly, in this blog I have written reflection about assistive
technology, especially about JAWS and Brialle display. Assistive technology is
a device, software, tools that help people with disabilities perform tasks more
easily and independently. JAWS and Brialle both helps people with visual problem
to do tasks. Therefore, this knowledge about assistive tools and ICT as
different tools help me gain more insight about technologies and their benefits.
Thank You:)
